For those who don't know....

I'm Christy, the one in the flip-flops. Married to my combat boot wearing OK National Guard Soldier for almost 9 years now. He's Daniel. When we started dating, he was part of the Army Reserve. After we got married, he finished his time there and thought he was done. That only lasted a few months though before he decided he missed it. A buddy of his was part of the OK National Guard and after talking with him, Daniel signed up. The rest, as they say, is history. Over the last year or so there has been talk here and there of a deployment. Within the last few months, talk has turned to action, and it looks like a deployment is imminent. Mid August, Daniel heads to Fort Hood for 90 days of training. Then, it's off to "the big sandbox" as Daniel puts it. (haha...I'm not amused.) Right now, we aren't exactly sure how long, if any, time home he will have after the training and before the plane ride over. I'm hoping that he will at least be able to spend Thanksgiving at home. We'll see.
